Charles Koechlin: Les heures persanes op. 65

Charles Koechlin possessed a restless intellectual curiosity, and was widely traveled. However, the composer was never to Persia – the inspiration for his famous piano cycle, “Les heures persanes.“ The orchestral version of “Les heures persanes” has previously appeared as part of hänssler CLASSIC’s Koechlin cycle, but now we turn to the original 1919 version for piano solo.

The German pianist Michael Korstick previous recording of Koechlin: Piano Works Vol. 1 to international acclaim, and one his new recording of “Les heures persanes” will no doubt be received as an invaluable addition to the catalogue. Once again, Michael Korstick displays his deep understanding of Koechlin’s allusive musical language, bringing out the harmonic nuance, and sonic gestures implicit in Koechlin’s suggestive score. We believe that THIS edition will be the definitive recording of Koechlin’s most important piano work.

The internationally acclaimed Koechlin series from SWR music/hänssler Classic continues with the exploration of the works for piano. There is no competition anywhere for this important and growing catalogue of Koechlin’s music on CD! All performing editions have been approved by the Charles Koechlin archives.
