Janina Ruh often plays the bass line on her cello while singing soprano during recitals, something that delights her audiences. She won the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in 2013. One year later, the SWR broadcasting corporation chose her for their promotion programme SWR2 New Talent, which is aimed at introducing outstanding young musicians to a broader public by means of concerts, radio broadcasts and studio productions. Renowned orchestras have invited Janina Ruh to perform with them as soloist, among them the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the Tapiola Sinfonietta (Finland), the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Camerata Hamburg and the SWR Symphony Orchestra. She is the solo cellist in the ensemble Metamorphosen Berlin. This is her second release on the SWRmusic label. Her partner on this release is the Russian pianist Boris Kusnezow who has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Mariinski Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Kioi Hall in Tokyo, the Munich Gasteig and the Berlin Philharmonie. Whoever speaks with Boris Kusnezow about music becomes instantly aware of his sharp mind, his enormous musical knowledge, his expert eye for musical details and his enthusiasm for different kinds of music - all of which is reflected in his piano playing.
