The more you concentrate on the nuances of Rosbaud’s artistry the more you will admire his ability to convey his precise ideas to the orchestra without compromising vivacity, verve and spontaneity. After listening to these Beethoven recordings it is beyond doubt that Rosbaud is definitely one of the greatest musicians and conductors of the 21st century. This also applies when he provides the accompaniment to the enthusiastically playing Trio di Trieste in the Triple Concerto, to the brilliant Titan Ginette Neveu in the Violin Concerto or to Géza Anda, whose every tone conveys incorruptible sincerity, in Piano Concerto No.4. Under Rosbaud’s conductorship the orchestra nearly always succeeds in performing even minute details to perfection and with an exciting touch but always remains faithful to the distinctive character of the music. The form with its development of marked contrasts and thus typical of Beethoven is presented as an integrated, homogeneous whole.
